It is a minimally invasive technique of nasal remodelling by injecting non-toxic biocompatible substances that do not cause immunological reactions.
Its indication is limited to depressions on the back, fallen tips or small irregularities that may result from congenital deformities or produced by trauma or previous surgery. It is also indicated for dissatisfied patients with the appearance of their nose, but who refuse surgery, or as a way to assess the possible correction before the operation.
Nasal remodelling: patients
Nasal remodelling is not indicated in all those cases in which the patient seeks a decrease in the size of the nose or those associated with functional lung abnormalities. The most commonly used material is hyaluronic acid, by its biocompatibility and non-permanent features, and the patient’s fat, with an increased durability. Nonetheless, sometimes it requires a repetition of the technique.
It takes place in the office without any anaesthesia. By applying a simple anaesthetic cream one hour before the treatment, it is well tolerated by the patient. The durability of the result depends on the permanence of the material, ranging from 6 months to 1 year in the case of hyaluronic acid.
Despite the advantages of the apparent simplicity of the technique and to be minimally invasive, rinomodelación is a non-surgical treatment to be carried out by professionals who know the nasal anatomy and limitations of this procedure.
